Unlocking standardization in private markets

Aumni + CUSIP Global Services

Private markets can be complex. They’re opaque, fragmented, and notoriously difficult to navigate when it comes to data. While public markets have long benefited from standardized company and security identifiers like the CUSIP to streamline operations, private markets have lagged behind – until now.

We’re excited to announce a major step forward: Aumni is teaming up with CUSIP Global Services (CGS) to support the expansion of CUSIP identifiers to VC-backed and PE-owned private companies.

By bringing standardized CUSIP identifiers into private market workflows, we’re helping to:

  • Simplify reporting and analytics for GPs and LPs
  • Improve decision-making through consistent reference data
  • Streamline operational processes and data integration across fund structures and data sources
  • Reduce errors from manual data entry to improve accuracy and efficiency

In short: This is a major step toward bringing the same level of efficiency and standardization to private markets that public markets have enjoyed for decades, which is more and more important as alternative assets continue to grow.

Standardization for private markets

We’re combining Aumni’s expertise in private market data structuring with CGS's Private CUSIP assignment capabilities and reputation as a trusted provider of capital markets reference data.

That means:

  • GPs and LPs can more easily access standardized CUSIP identifiers for their portfolio companies
  • Fund administrators gain a consistent reference point for reconciliation and reporting
  • And the entire private market ecosystem moves one step closer to data standardization

As alternative assets continue to grow and attract more institutional capital, the demand for scalable, transparent infrastructure also grows. Our collaboration with CGS is helping set a new standard.

It’s a win for every market participant who’s struggled with messy cap tables, ambiguous entity names, or the friction of manual processes. And it’s a win for innovation: standardized data enables better automation, interoperability between systems, and smarter portfolio oversight.
